Do you remember what your senior photo looked like? Were you just wearing a suit or a dress in a small studio? Did you try to change up your attire with something a little more unconventional? Wouldn’t it be much cooler if you had taken your photo at the beach instead? Around a decade or two ago, senior portraits weren’t as much of a big deal as they are today. Back then, it was just something parents accompanied their high schoolers to without much fanfare and those who did make a big deal out of senior pictures were few and far between. These days, it’s different. The Importance of Senior Portraits Thanks to photos being more accessible because of smartphones, digital cameras, and other gadgets, people have now discovered what it’s like to immortalize milestones into photographs. When choosing a location for portraits with "tween" boys - it can be a challenge. Looking for something that will reflect this pre-teen stage in their lives AND, something they will enjoy being a part, of is especially a daunting task. My suggestion... try something unique, new and fun... Downtown Bay City, Michigan was the perfect setting for Peyton and Blake's summer 2021 family portrait session. These boys always come dressed with the best GQ (Gentlemen's Quarterly) outfits, their baby ones with their hats and matching shirts will always be my favorites. The boys are getting a little too old for us to dress them like that now, but these two can still pull off some dapper looks. Blake will always be my jokester and I wouldn't trade it for the world. His momma actually had him behaving so well that he wouldn't give me funny faces anymore... I had to bribe him to joke around and then inform his mom its OK because the "misbehaving" fun looks are my favorite part of photographing these boys! I love photographing in Bay City, Michigan as this area allows for so many different unique styles and backdrops. We took advantage of the views of the Saginaw River from downtown Bay City. During the hot summer months of August, Bay City is full of spirt, fashion, shopping, and of course FOOD! We took a stroll down some of the city streets that were closed off for the summer adventures. How would you describe your photography style? I get asked this question a lot! I love to mix both posed portraits along with candid moments between family members. Every parent envisions that perfect portrait of their children smiling perfectly into the camera, however, some of my most memorable images are candid moments that share love and emotion. 14 Years together and look at how young and in love! Rose Mary Beach was the perfect setting for this couples portrait session with the winner of the 2017 Miss North Carolina Pageant , Miss Wendy Jordan and her husband, Tripp. Wendy is also a model for Levi jeans - needless to say, this couple was a dream to photograph! Play Dates for the girls... or best friends memories with your college roommate? These two college roommates (the GUYS, actually) were best friends back in the day... and still best friends to this day. Andrea contacted me about doing a family session for the guys and their adorable little girls, Poppy and Vivian, at Santa Rosa Beach, FL. We started off with a group photo for this Sunset Family Photography Session on one of my favorite beaches on Highway 30A. The sky was gorgeous, but the smiles are even better! We even let mom and dad get in on the fun! Family Portrait Session on the beach are such a joy to be a part of. It brings so much joy to our hearts to have the opportunity to capture these lifetime memories of families vacationing in the Destin, Panama City and my favorite, 30A areas. Florida's Emerald Coast offers some of the most beautiful white sand beaches and breath taking skies. Toes in the Sand! The EARTH heals our soul.... and the beach adds happiness! Toddlers and babies are so inquisitive about the white sand, fun sea shells and the loud waves at the beach. Sometimes I get the joy of photographing their first experience in the sand and it's always an incredible feeling that washes over you when you get to see that joy in their eyes. A beautiful sunset Watercolor Beach Family Photography Session with Lisa and her family that had perfect weather & a relaxing feel as we walked along the beach taking in it’s beauty. Lisa & I started talking a while back about a sunset family photo session before her oldest son headed off to college. I was so excited when we got the opportunity to meet her and her family in person to have her beautiful family photographed at one of my favorite 30A beaches. The location we chose was at Watercolor beach along Highway 30A in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Watercolor Inn and surrounding area is the perfect place for family beach photos with stunning white sand beaches, gorgeous rental homes & a tourist friendly town. Lisa and her family decided on orange in support of the Hook 'em Horns and it was perfect as it allowed us to create a joyful & relaxing look/feel to the photos. This entire session was a dream, Lisa and her family are so wonderful. Dad likes to make things fun and is always joking around! We had a great time with this family at Watercolor Beach, I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to capture these sweet memories for them! #hookemhorns What To Do In Destin? This family brought a lot of energy to their extended family beach portrait session on Santa Rosa Beach along highway 30A ! And they channeled it masterfully into these gorgeous family photos.
